make your own gingersolaire!

Once again, it’s time to break out those gumdrops and some icing glue because ‘tis the season for gingerbread houses! Last year we brought you the gingerLotus, a gingerbread version of the mkLotus, and it was such a hit that we’ve decided to roll out yet another of our designs in gingerbread form: the mkSolaire. This year we built the first ever mkSolaire, which is now the centerpiece of the Smart Home exhibit at Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry. Now you can create (and then eat!) your very own gingerSolaire. Aside from being a fun and delicious holiday activity, this project is an excellent way to teach kids about the ideas of sustainability and green living. It’s never too early to begin teaching children to show concern for our environment and to train them how to respect and protect it through everyday actions. This time of year is such a fun and exciting one for children; what better way to engage them in greening then by integrating it into your family’s holiday traditions. We hope you’ll find the results delicious in every way!
