furniture friday: todhunter sofa

We are firm believers in the idea that green can be sexy. Case in point, the Q Collection’s Todhunter Sofa. Besides being a totally sleek, sophisticated, and, yes, sexy piece of furniture, the Todhunter Sofa is made from “certified,” sustainability harvested wood. And the greenness doesn’t stop with their wood; the company uses only natural 100% biodegradable materials (e.g. wool, viscose, abaca (banana plant stalk), hemp and low-impact cotton) and 100% non toxic dyes (there’s absolutely no polyurethane or formaldehyde in any of their furniture). In fact, for their wool-based textiles, they’ve partnered with the world’s leading environmental mill and seen to it that a) the water that leaves the mill is cleaner than the Swiss drinking water that enters it, b) the excess clippings from the fabric are used as mulch by farmers in the surrounding area, and c) their dyes have passed the most rigorous tests developed.
