I just found a fun family of stools that I really love, all made out of cork. In fact, they are called the Cork Family Stools, designed by Jasper Morrison, pictured below. All three of the designs are really comfortable with a softness you don’t expect at first glance. They are also very sturdy and stable little guys that work perfectly as side tables, too. Jasper has also designed the above pictured cork stool and table with a slightly simpler, sleeker look. You could easily use both of these as either stools or tables.

The best part about all of these is that cork, the bark of Cork Oaks, can be pulled off of the trees for material usage without damaging the tree, which allows it to continue growing with no harm done. So these fantastic stools let you take a load off without having to take a tree down! Not only is cork a great renewable material, but Cork Oak forests are also good for the planet in the ways all forests are: among other things, they sequester carbon, create thriving ecosystems, and produce oxygen. Sustainable, beautiful, and comfortable - that’s a trifecta!
