Last week was one of the most unforgettable and exhilarating of my life. The opening of Smart Home at the Museum of Science and Industry has been absolutely amazing; I could not be any happier with the way everything turned out! One of the best parts of the whole thing (besides seeing visitors’ enthusiastic reactions to the exhibit, especially those of the children who came to see it) was getting to work with and meet so many fantastic people from various backgrounds, all of whom were there supporting and/or contributing to Smart Home is one way or another. A perfect example is the fabulous crew we met from PrairieMod.

The PrairieMod squad is a collective of young designers and entrepreneurs based in and around Chicago whose mission is to promote a principle-based modern lifestyle. Their website serves as a forum for showcasing designs, products, places, people, and ideas focused on thoughtful design in the Midwest and other parts of the country. So, needless to say, we were ecstatic when they dropped by Smart Home last week. I had the chance to talk to them for a while about the exhibit and how it incorporates our 5 EcoPrinciples. Besides being a group of very smart, talented, and principled designers, our friends at PrairieMod are also incredibly sweet and have fantastic taste! They brought us the most thoughtful “house warming gift” last week: the 2 Buttress Vase (pictured above) from their gorgeous TECO Art Pottery Collection.
